Hooligan, Bouncer, Gangster, Legend A British Crime Epic

Principal photography has begun on 'Rise of the Footsoldier', a British crime epic spanning three decades. This true story follows the inexorable rise of Carlton Leach, one of the most powerful and respected criminals England has known. This colourful and often violent film traces his rise from being one of the most feared generals of the football terraces, via his involvement in the criminal aspects of the early ‘rave' scene in London and Essex. 'Rise Of The Footsoldier' gives a chilling insight into the ruthless, dangerous and seductive world of organised crime, where extraordinary sacrifices needed to be made to survive.

The feature film's ensemble cast includes a great British line-up including Ricci Harnett (28 Days Later, Joy Division) in his first lead role alongside Craig Fairbrass (White Noise 2, Cliffhanger), Roland Manookian (The Business, Football Factory), Terry Stone (Rollin' with the Nines, Hell to Pay), Billy Murray (Rollin' with the Nines, Essex Boys), Frank Harper (Football Factory, Lock Stock), Coralie Rose (Waking the Dead), Lara Belmont (The War Zone, Long Time Dead) and Kierston Wareing who plays the lead in Ken Loach's latest film Long Time Dead.

Written by brothers Julian and William Gilbey, the film is directed by Julian Gilbey (2007 Bafta nominated for Special Achievement by a Director) following his success with urban gangster film 'Rollin' With the Nines' and ultra-violent cult film 'Reckoning Day' and is produced by Carnaby International in association with Flakjacket Films.

Filming continues until the beginning of February 2007 on locations in and around Three Mills Studios in East London and Essex. 'Rise Of The Footsoldier' will be ready for Delivery in June 2007 when in will premiere at the London UK Film Focus.

'Rise of the Footsoldier' marks the fourth British film that Carnaby have produced in the last twelve months, after the award-winning romantic comedy 'Are You Ready for Love?', psychological thriller 'Daddy's Girl' and teenage love story 'Dolphins'.
